The chart represents the 10-year forward returns for stocks based on the P/E ratio paid for stocks. At current P/E’s, investors are looking at historically 0% returns over the next ten years.
Chinese Electrical Demand
Many analysts continue to suggest the Chinese economy is a bug in search of a windshield. I agree that it has many issues (the real estate bust and debt levels), but electricity demand does not go up over time in an economy that is not growing. Also, note where India is on this chart. Lots of catch-up to happen in that market.
