The Growing Chorus Singing Nuclear Power’s Praises | Merryn Talks Money
Not long ago, it was seen as too slow, too expensive and too controversial to play a major role in the future energy mix. Not anymore. Nick Lawson, chief executive of investment firm Ocean Wall, and Jake Jurewicz, CEO and co-founder of modular reactor startup Blue Energy, join this week’s Merryn Talks Money to explain why they think nuclear power is becoming one of the most compelling long-term energy bets.
Exploring the Uranium Market: Insights from Mike Alkin
In this conversation, Mike Alkin discusses the current state of the uranium and nuclear energy market, focusing on supply and demand dynamics, challenges in uranium mining, market pricing, and long-term outlook. He emphasizes the structural deficits in uranium supply, the complexities of mining operations, and the psychological factors influencing market pricing. The discussion also touches on investment perspectives in uranium equities and concludes with a Q&A session addressing various industry-related questions.
Nothing new here except Alikin reaffirms his positive views on the uranium market. I still like to hear what he has to say.
Shale Peak Update from Diamondback Energy
Along with the Saudi Energy Minister, I have also been anticipating this moment. If true, this means long-life Canadian oil sands and offshore will benefit—the exact areas I am focusing on with the energy stocks in the AIA portfolio.
Could we see a short squeeze in uranium stocks?
There is still a lot of negative sentiment towards uranium stocks, and there is a lot of outstanding short interest. The chart above shows the percentage of shares sold short and the days to cover information.
Gold stocks are still being ignored
Money is still moving out of the gold miners. Earnings and cash flows are coming in hot as the gold price is near all-time highs, and energy inputs, such as diesel fuel, remain relatively low. These higher cash flows will eventually result in interest returning to the miners.
That’s it for this week.
